Discover Amsterdam by walking and the taste of typical dutch food. Learn about the background and culture of the most vibrant city of the Netherlands while walking through the ancient streets. The Dutch capital is a favorite must-see of visitors to Europe. With the canals and bike paths giving way to a fascinating mix of history and culture, and a reputation as one of the most liberal cities on the planet, it’s not hard to see why!
SMALL FOOD TASTING TOUR (duration 2,5 hours). During this food tour you’ll see the main attractions of our capital city, such as the Royal Palace, Dam Square, National Monument, Mint Tower, Flower Market, Rembrandt Square, City Hall and Opera House, the medieval Weighing House, whilst snacking your way through our historic city. We start this tour with a typical Dutch experience, eating out of the wall at FEBO: trying fried goodies and Dutch staples, such as KAASSOUFFLE (snack oozing with melted mild cheese) or a MEAT or VEGETABLE CROQUETTE (snack with a meat or vegetable ragu). At national landmark HEMA you can try a cake, called TOMPOUCE (custard-filled puff pastry with berry icing, this sweet treat is often eaten on birthdays) or our favourite smoked sausage ROOKWORST with musterd. During a break you have the time to enjoy a fresh cured raw HERRING, at a herring cart, try the best fries, our beloved PATAT, with sauces as mayonnaise and peanut sauce, aka PATATJE OORLOG (fries in war). For the sweet tooth you can try the best CHOCOLATE COOKIE of Adam, Van Stapele Bakery). We can finish this tour in a BROWN CAFÉ (PUB) with our national BEER SNACK, the BITTERBAL, small fried croquettes.
Snacks included in the small food tasting tour are samples of: TOMPOUCE, ROOKWORST, BITTERBAL (small fried meat balls with soft ragu), COOKIES, LIQUORICE, CHOCOLATES and OR CHEESE and a 500 ml. bottle of water. We’ll walk approximately 4 kilometres over flat surfaces and we’ll be snacking on-the-go, so usually this will mean eating or standing at a food cart of stall. Snacks which are NOT INCLUDED and for own expenses are: SNACKS at the FEBO vending machine (mostly 2,- euro per item) HERRING, FRIES and Van Stapele Bakery, drinks in a pub. You’ll receive a map of Amsterdam, with detailed addresses of the shops / places which we visited.
