Edam is famous for its cheese. Throughout the town center, you'll find shops where you can taste and buy the famous Edam cheese. In the summer, there's a traditional cheese market, just like in Alkmaar and Gouda, but with far fewer tourists. At the cheese market, the cheeses are weighed and sold the old-fashioned way, with wooden scales and clogs. Besides the cheese, it's also wonderful to stroll along the canals or sit on a terrace.
